On October12, TUSC defeated Eagle Sports Southaven FC 2-0 at home, moving on to the 3rd round qualifying match of the Lamar Open Cup. That game will be played in November.

Tennessee United Soccer Club will soon make history in Sumner County. On October 12, 2026, the TUSC UPSL team will host and participate in a second round qualifying game of the 2026 edition of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, U.S. Soccer’s Club Championship.
The prestigious soccer tournament is the country’s oldest ongoing national soccer competition where both amateur and professional teams are invited to compete for the cup. With such giants of soccer like Nashville SC and DC United in the mix, TUSC UPSL is realistic with their expectations. However the roster full of local boys, many of whom played in the club as youth players, cannot help being excited.
TUSC UPSL Team Captain, Cade Good, says of the upcoming match, “I just want to start by saying a massive thank you to the staff of the club. We wouldn’t have this opportunity to play in the Open Cup if it weren’t for the amount of time they have put into this. It doesn’t go without notice what all has been done behind the scenes to develop this program into what it is now. I also want to say how proud I am of this group of players. We have been a part of the UPSL for a little over half of a year and you can already see so much progress. With that being said, we have brought in a lot of young talent and veteran experience. As a group we are extremely excited for this opportunity. This is a big step for the staff and the players at Tennessee United, now all we have to do is perform.”
TUSC UPSL Head Coach John Ferguson added “Have to love an Open Cup competition – after watching the FA Cup for years, getting the chance to compete in one is a fantastic opportunity. The idea that every adult team is eligible to play, where teams can range from Sunday beer league to MLS powerhouses… What’s not to love? Add to that the privilege to host a first-of-its-kind game like this in Sumner County, and I think this may be one of my favorite things I’ve been a part of in soccer. I know the boys are excited, and we hope to make a good run in this, our first try.” Click here to see Coach Ferguson’s statement.
After drawing a BYE in the first qualifying round, they move on to the second qualifying round with 117 other teams from 26 states plus the District of Columbia. The team will take on Eagles Sports Southaven FC, a fellow UPSL member, from Southaven, Mississippi at 7 pm at Station Camp High School in Gallatin.
The community is encouraged to come cheer on their neighbors and friends at this monumental game! Admission is Free. The club will be doing giveaways and activities for the crowd before the game and after.
